Allyson Newton

WIDA PD Outreach Specialist

Allyson Newton is a WIDA Outreach Specialist offering professional development to educators in both US and international contexts on the use and deployment of the WIDA ELD standards, WIDA assessments and WIDA tools/resources.

Allyson, of Charlotte, NC, began her language teaching career in the People's Republic of China. She taught EFL for three years in both Sichuan and Guangdong provinces.

Allyson is a renewed National Board Certified Teacher who taught K-8 ESL, 8th grade ELA and served as a district SIOP coach in her home state. Additionally, Allyson previously worked as an ELL Content Delivery Specialist with Pearson North America. 

Allyson holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and a master’s degree in TESOL from Azusa Pacific University.
