LEAD Center evaluator Nicole (Nicky) Bowman has been appointed the American Evaluation Association’s (AEA) representative to a new network called EvalIndigenous, which aims “to recognize the different world views and strengths of indigenous evaluation practices . . . to better allow indigenous peoples to lead and contribute to global evaluation practice and endeavors."

For several years Bowman has chaired AEA’s Topical Interest Group on Indigenous Peoples in Evaluation.

As a LEAD evaluator in the Wisconsin Center for Education Research at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Education, and also as president of her own consulting firm, Bowman has worked for two decades with tribal and non-tribal agencies. She is a frequent trainer for various tribal projects.

Bowman is a Mohican/Munsee Native American and a member of the National Congress of American Indians, American Indigenous Research Association, National Indian Education Association, Tribal Education Departments National Assembly and Native Research Network.

The LEAD Center works to advance the quality of teaching and learning by evaluating the effectiveness and impact of educational innovations, policies, and practices within higher education.
