Sonia Upton

Client Relations Specialist

 

Dr. Sonia Upton is a Client Relations Specialist supporting Strategic Communications for WIDA at the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research. In this role, Sonia utilizes her experience, expertise and skills to develop surveys, analyze data and create reports to disseminate the information to various audiences, in-depth data analysis, and develops resources to track and support internal coordination for the department. 

 

 

 

Sonia’s experience in education includes 18 years in the classroom teaching English language learners in Kentucky and working at the Kentucky Department of Education as a Title III-LEP/Immigrant Program Consultant. Sonia holds a B.S. in Elementary Education (grades K-8), a M.A. in Early Childhood Education, Reading Instruction, and English as a Second Language. She also has her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development. Sonia's past work in the field of education includes ESL Program Reviewer for Kentucky Universities, leader in school transformation at the school and district levels, presenter at regional and national conferences, and consultant for districts establishing or evaluating their ESL programs. She also has experience as a contributing co-author to various publications for TESOL and publishing agencies developing curriculum for ESL programs.
