Sonia Upton

Client Relations Specialist

 

Sonia Upton, Ph.D. is a Client Relations Specialist on the Marketing and Client Services Team for WIDA at the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research. In this role, Sonia utilizes her experience, expertise and skills to develop surveys, conduct data analysis, and create reports to disseminate the information to various audiences. As part of her work she also develops tracking resources for multiple initiatives to provide in-depth data analysis and reporting. 


Sonia's experience in education includes 18 years in the classroom teaching multilingual learners in Kentucky and working at the Kentucky Department of Education as the Title III-LEP/Immigrant ProgramConsultant. Sonia holds a B.S. in Elementary Education (grades K-8), a M.A. in Early Childhood Education, Reading Instruction, and English as a Second Language. She also has her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development. Sonia's past work in the field of education includes ESL Program Reviewer for Kentucky Universities, leader in school transformation at the school and district levels, presenter at regionaland national conferences, and consultant to districts establishing or evaluating their ESL programs. She also has experience as a contributing author and co-author to various publications for TESOL and publishing agencies developing curricuulum for ESL programs.
