Julia Cortada

Professional Learning Design Specialist

Julia Cortada is Professional Learning Design Specialist for WIDA. She works closely with her Design Team as well as other departments in WIDA on producing and publishing educator resources. She helps create WIDA's Focus Bulletin along with various other print and multimedia resources pertaining to the WIDA ELD standards and assessment system. She has the pleasure of interacting with educators across the consortium through her work with the monthly Featured Educator project and always strives to help teachers relate WIDA resources to their local contexts.

Julia holds a M.A. in Applied Linguistics for ESL and a B.A. in Psychology. Prior to joining WIDA, she has been a preschool teacher, a kindergarten teacher, an English Language Acquisition Specialist, and has combined her love of education and travel by teaching abroad. Julia feels language learners and their families bring many assets to the educational landscape and is motivated by helping others build on these strengths.
