Assessment Accessibility & Accommodations Specialist
Mira Monroe works with the WIDA assessment team in supporting accessibility and accommodations. Mira has an M.A. in Special Education and a B.A. in communication disorders. Prior to joining WIDA, she taught 10 years in public school classrooms throughout Colorado followed by 6 years at the Colorado Department of Education as the Assessment Unit Special Education Specialist.
Mira has supported the accessibility of large-scale assessment for all students through her work on the PARCC Accessibility, Accommodations, and Fairness work group, as well as the development of the policy development during Colorado's move to online assessment for Science and Social Studies. Mira facilitated the development of the Colorado extended standards for students with significant cognitive disabilities as well as the development of the revised Colorado Alternate Assessment.
