Video Presentation: Building a Better Future STEM Faculty
March 8, 2016
How to Build a Better Future STEM Faculty presented by WCER Researchers: Mark Connolly, Principal Investigator, You-Geon Lee and Julia Savoy.
Poor teaching is one of the biggest reasons students leave STEM degree programs. Although research on college teaching has clearly demonstrated which practices are effective, too few instructors embrace proven methods.
Connolly, Lee and Savoy review findings from a new report on a seven-year study of the impact of doctoral teaching development on early-career faculty's teaching-related skills, knowledge, attitudes and career choices. They offer recommendations for increasing doctoral students’ participation in teaching development programs.
