- Research assistantships
- Project-based collaboration
Students at WCER gain experience in diverse ways, including study design and data analysis, research translation and dissemination, and collaboration with stakeholders.

As an undergraduate, WCER allowed me to engage with an interdisciplinary community of people invested in improving education research and practice. As a humanities student, the opportunity to engage in research and attend conferences was the highlight of my college experience.
I am now working an administrative role in higher education, and I can confidently say my time at WCER provided me with crucial constructive feedback and prepared me with the organizational skills needed to thrive in a university workplace setting.

Working with WCER, I not only was able to improve my skills as a researcher and thinker, but I also got the chance to see the work I did become useful to teachers/professors and their practical educational practice.”
The leaders that I worked with demonstrated that I could engage in the larger questions and issues in higher education as an undergraduate. My perspective as a student and a thinker were valued and analyzed. The work at WCER was not characterized by deadlines to be met, but often by a shared exploration of the question “how may we best learn together?” This sifting and winnowing pushed me to refine my critical thinking and creativity, and helped me realize what kind of work really makes me tick.
