This talk will explore two landmark Supreme Court cases: Lau v. Nichols (1974) and Brown v. Board of Education (1954). Dr. Morita-Mullaney will examine how these cases intersected and sometimes conflicted in their approaches to racial and linguistic equity in education. The presentation will focus on the perspectives of Chinese American educators and activists, offering insights into the complexities of building both racial and linguistic equity in our educational systems.
