Increasing the Number of African Americans in Computing Careers
May 28, 2013
The Wisconsin Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei Lab) and its colleagues have received a $5 million boost to continue its work to increase the number of African-American students training for careers in the computing sciences. This funding from the National Science Foundation will enable the Wei Lab, Clemson University, and collaborating organizations to increase the number of African-American doctoral graduates who enter the workforce with a research focus; retain and advance African-American doctoral students, faculty and researchers in computing; and develop future African-American leaders with computing expertise in the academy, government and industry.
