September 20, 2013

Wisconsin Equity and Inclusion Laboratory (Wei LAB) director Dr. Jerlando F. L. Jackson and executive director of the Value-Added Research Center (VARC) Rob Meyer will be featured panelists at two separate conferences in Washington DC in the coming days.

Jackson will participate on a panel looking at "Breaking Barriers: Legislative Actions, White House Initiatives and School District Imperatives for Educating Black Males" at the 43rd Annual Legislative Conference of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation on Sept. 20. The four-day conference is held from Sept. 18-21 and attracts thousands of elected officials and industry leaders, media, emerging leaders, and everyday Americans to policy forums, general sessions, and exhibits.

Meyer will serve on a panel looking at "Measuring Student Growth: What Have We Learned?" at the 2013 School Measures Summit on Oct. 1 in Washington, D.C. The one-day gathering, organized by Gallup, Battelle for Kids, and the School Improvement Network, will bring together national educational leaders to "collaborate around ideas for using multiple measures to personalize education and prepare students for success in the workplace and in life and discuss how to measure college and career readiness in the 21st century," according to the conference website.
