Understanding Students’ Entry and Persistence in STEM Subjects
June 24, 2013
Although the American higher education system serves as a model throughout the world, it struggles to meet the U.S. demand for workers in STEM fields. With funding from the National Science Foundation, WCER researcher Eric Grodsky and colleagues examine the pathways students follow into and through STEM fields at baccalaureate colleges. Grodsky’ work involves creating a data infrastructure that will allow researchers to uncover the mechanisms that underlie the success or failure of Federal projects to increase the number of students who enter and complete bachelor’s degrees in STEM fields.
