The External Evaluation of the Mathematics Achievement Project
The Mathematics Achievement Project works to ensure that more highly qualified mathematics teachers will be part of the educational infrastructure in western Wisconsin, resulting in increased student learning and performance. Its six goals include creating an expert panel, curriculum alignment, mathematics content, constructivist pedagogy, learning plans, and student achievement. Annual two-week summer institutes provide instruction, constructivist pedagogy, curriculum alignment, and learning plan development. This evaluation aims to determine the project’s outcomes and impact, to learn which components were most successful and which may require additional planning, and to describe the conditions under which the most favorable results occurred.
