Jenni Torres
WIDA Executive Director
Jenni is a dynamic leader in language education with close to 30 years of experience. Bilingual herself, she has raised three bilingual children and, as a Coast Guard spouse, lived and taught in diverse settings across six U.S. states, Puerto Rico, and Colombia. Jenni holds an EdD in Educational Policy and Leadership from American University and a Master's in Teaching and Curriculum from Harvard's Graduate School of Education.
Her extensive classroom experience, including being named Teacher of the Year at school, county, and district levels in Mobile, Alabama, and participating in a Fulbright Exchange in Montevideo, Uruguay, underscores her dedication to multilingual education. Jenni's expertise in product development and commitment to data-driven decisions have consistently enhanced outcomes for multilingual learners and their families.
As the Executive Director of WIDA, Jenni spearheads the organization's mission to support multilingual learners and their educators. She oversees all operations, including the development of innovative assessments, research-based resources, and professional development opportunities.
