Assessment Content Development Manager
As Assessment Content Development Manager at WIDA, Stephen is primarily responsible for managing internal content review processes across domains and grade clusters for ACCESS for ELLs, working closely with the operations team and WIDA’s test development partners at the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) to ensure the quality of the assessment. He also participates in new assessment and assessment revision projects.
Stephen has taught EFL in South Korea, ESL in New York City, and has over ten years of experience with high-stakes test development, working for Harcourt Assessment, the University of Michigan’s English Language Institute, and most recently, Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments. Stephen holds an MA in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University and a PhD in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests include investigating how best to assess L2 speaking and listening abilities and the validity of test score interpretations.
