State Relations Specialist
Fernanda Marinho Kray is a polyglot educator and researcher, currently a member of WIDA’s Standards and State Relations teams. She has directed large-scale policy and practice-oriented projects, frequently collaborating with practitioners and experts from across the globe. She has been a lead writer and contributor to state and federal guidance, including in the areas of curriculum, professional development, standards, programming, cultural competence, equity, and diversifying the teacher workforce.
Prior to joining WIDA, Fernanda worked through various levels of the education system. In addition to years in the classroom as a mentor teacher in K-12 and higher education settings, Fernanda has been a coach, coordinator, and member of various leadership teams, including most recently Professional Development & Curriculum Coordinator, and Language Acquisition Lead for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Interests include the advancement of educational equity, and investigating how critical pedagogical spaces can exist within traditional structures of public schooling.
