Christina Nelson

Professional Learning Specialist

Before becoming a Professional Learning Specialist with WIDA, Christina taught and advocated for multilingual learners from all over the world in Lawrence, Kansas, where she gained her master’s degree in education from the University of Kansas and mentored novice English language specialists, before continuing her career in Ecuador, Turkey and Vietnam. In Vietnam, Christina led the 6-12 English Language Development (ELD) program and utilized the WIDA Framework with her colleagues and students as well as facilitated workshops to international teachers. 

As a WIDA Professional Learning Specialist, Christina utilizes her experiences as a classroom teacher and ELD coordinator to deliver research and theory in ways that support practical application to K-12 classroom settings.
