In this talk, Dr. Lowenhaupt examines instructional leadership for science, a subject currently undergoing significant reforms via the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Her interviews focused on supervision and evaluation practices and also investigated principals’ views of “good” science instruction through their observations of science classroom videos. After sharing findings from our research, Dr. Lowenhaupt will conclude with a discussion of implications and present a website and tools designed to provide resources and support for principals implementing the NGSS.
