Mental Health at the Forefront of the Global Refugee Crisis

October 28, 2019, 11:30 am - 1 pm

Room 259, Educational Sciences Building

Dr. Essam Daod

Child psychiatrist and psychotherapist, founder of Humanity Crew

More than 70 million refugees and asylum seekers displaced due to civil war, ethnic cleansing, genocide and hunger are part of this global human rights crisis and global public mental health epidemic, a population that is marked by extraordinary rates of trauma and stress related mental health problems. Dr. Daod and Humanity Crew advocate globally for an increase in both aid resources that mandate the treatment of mental health issues and designed research that can effectively guide appropriate mental health interventions to this culturally diverse population within a troubled and challenging geographical landscape. Bring your lunch…..coffee and sweets provided by the Java Den and the Adel Korkor Foundation.
