Perceptual Learning, Adaptive Learning and Learning Technology
November 4, 2015, 12:30 - 1:30 pm
Wisconsin Idea Room 159, Education Building, 1000 Bascom Mall
Phil Kellman
Distinguished Professor, Department of Psychology, University of California, Los Angeles
In his talk, Phil Kellman will discuss two areas of innovation in education: perceptual learning and adaptive learning technologies. Learning in educational settings usually emphasizes facts and procedures. Kellman will discuss the importance for learning improvements in the way information is extracted (perceptual learning) and optimizing spacing (adaptive learning).
His research has developed learning techniques that have been shown to improve students’ learning skills and has the potential to improve learning in many educational and training domains.
