Dr. Rachel Garrett is a principal researcher at AIR with a focus on research to improve outcomes for students with disadvantaged backgrounds. Dr. Garrett’s research involves quantitative evaluation studies with a focus on designs for causal inference and examination implementation. Her areas of instructional effectiveness, teacher professional learning, English learner students, and mathematics learning. Dr. Garrett is the principal investigator of research collaboration with a Midwest, urban school district focused on improving educational outcomes for English Learners. Dr. Garrett’s other recent work examines how well teacher effectiveness is measured using classroom observation scores.
