“If only I could figure out the size of one, this would be such an easy game!” Metacognitive awareness of estimation across the lifespan

Thompson will explore awareness of whole number and fraction estimation in children and adults and how thisawareness impacts their later decisions. She investigateswhether confidence judgments are more strongly relatedto actual performance or perceived familiarity withnumbers. She also will discuss the educational implications of metacognitive awareness in mathematics.
