Factors that Affect Student Academic Growth

April 1, 2013

The Value-Added Research Center (VARC) develops ways to compare school performance in a fair and accurate way, whether the school is public or private, urban or suburban, large or small. When measuring student academic growth it’s important to separate school-related factors (curriculum, school  culture, classroom teacher, lesson structure, school safety) from factors not related to the school (at-home support, household financial resorces, prior knowledge, English language learner status). This brief presentation provides a narrated overview of the process. More information is available here.
