Alissa Metzler

Consortium Relations Specialist

Alissa Metzler is the Consortium Relations Specialist on the Consortium and State Relations Team. She is a content lead on the National Policy subcommittee, leads WIDA’s LEA Advisory subcommittee, and collaboratively works with cross-departmental teams, including the Advancing ALTELLA project, ACCESS Training, and MODEL. Additionally, she actively engages in the planning and support of all consortium-wide activities, tracking state and federal policies impacting member states and agencies, and serves as the Consortium Relations Specialist for WIDA’s non-state agencies and Washington. Alissa had the pleasure of teaching English Learners and serving as an EL Program Coordinator in North Dakota for 11 years. With a deep passion for supporting teachers of ELs and wanting to have a greater impact on policy, programs, and professional development, she transitioned to a state level position and served as the State EL and Title III Coordinator at the Idaho State Department of Education for four years. Alissa holds a B.S. in Elementary Education with a K-12 ESL endorsement and emphasis in Spanish from the University of North Dakota, a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy from the University of Mary, and Ph.D. ABD in Teaching and Learning: Teacher Education.
